Persuasive Online Presentations
As the hassles and costs involved with travel increase, companies are quickly discovering the cost-benefits of online presentations - called Webinars or WebSeminars - for pre-selling purposes. With proper planning, you can reach a larger audience of targeted prospects and give them a complete pitch, far more cost-effectively than traditional meetings requiring travel. This allows you to stretch your marketing budget farther and increases your chances of closing qualified prospects.
Given that you can’t use eye-contact and body language as feedback to adjust the presentation to keep it compelling, it is critical to master the process of designing and delivering an effective online presentation. Some tips include:
 | Be clear about the goal of the presentation and each section |
 | Involve the audience - get them to interact by asking involving questions, taking polls, giving relevant examples, including transitions between the sections, and using a webcam so people can see you as you present |
 | Follow the guidelines of every presentation: less is more, be succinct, use powerful graphics and action words, and organize the presentation to (1) outline what you’re going to talk about, (2) fill in the details, (3) summarize the take-away points |
 | If a group presents, orchestrate everyone’s role to demonstrate teamwork and not just individuals who step on one another |
 | At the end, make it clear what you want those members of the audience interested in continuing the "conversation" with you to do - offering to call them, set up personal meetings etc. |
 | Offer copies of the presentation at the end, so people who did attend can share what they learned with others in their office whose input is needed for a buying decision. |
